AN EXPLANATION.
[to the editor.]
Sir,— ln yonr leader of to day you have made reference to a certain individual who "wrote a bare-faced libel in the columns of the Wesleyan, a sort of religious paper, on the gold-miners of the West Coast." As many of your remarks descriptive of the said writer apply to myself, I beg to state that I- never wrote in or to the Wesleyan on that or any other subject.— lam, &c, Gbo. Johnston, West Coast Missionary. January 15, 1886. | Tlie Baptist is the paper the libel appears in. It was an error to state that it wasinT/ie Wesleijan. Perhaps Mr Johnston will say whether he wrote the libel referred to that appeared in The Baptist.
