NOTES FROM DOBSON.

The leasing of the sections in Dobson has given an impetus to building in this new township. Already there is an hotel, a bakery, a blacksmith's shop, and a general store with post-office attached. Although the roads are not yet made, several of the back sections are occupied and many are undergoing the process of clearing. One recent improvement is the establishment cf a ferry boat at Rocky Island. A suggestion has been made in connection withthia matter that is worthy of consideration. On the completion of Cobden bridge the tackle and apparatus of the Cobdsn ferry might be advantageously transferred to this neighborhood. The necessity, of a' railway station here is obvious. It -is much more required here than the one at Omoto. Such an accommodation would help to bring about the laying off and taking up the adjoining 70 sections. At the eastern extremity of the town is an excellent sandstone quarry, which is well worthy of the attention of some enterprising masons a< d quarrymen. No doubt the royalty on the stone would be lowered by the County Council so as to lead to the establishment of the industry. The present royalty is considered to be too high.
