SCHOLARSHIPS.
Auckland, April 1. Judge Gillies announced to-day at the University College Council, that in conformity with the wishes of the late Mrs Gillies, it is his intention to place £3000 at the disposal of the council for two scholarships of £100 per annum each, to be called "The Sinclair" and "The Gillies" Scholarships, in memory of Dr Sinclair, formerly Colonial Secretary of New Zealand, and of the late Mrs Gillies. The scholarships will be tenable for three years, and are for poor scholars.
