Yesterday 118 loaded trucks were brought from Brunnerton to Greymouth. This is the greatest number that lias ever passed over the line in one day. It Avas nearly all coal. The Oreti has brought some ironbark piles for the harbor works. They are of unusual length for piles, some of them being over 50ft. Mails for the Australian colonies and United Kingdom via Sydney close at Auckland to-morrow, 22nd, and for France, &c, per French packet. Owing to the unaA r oidable absence of several teachers from the Greymouth school, who are attending the annual I examination at Kumara, the Committee have decided to postpone recommencing avo k till Monday next. The school Avill therefore be closed for the remainder of this Aveek. At the R.M. Court, yesterday, before H. A. Stratford, Esq., Nils Tallockson was charged Avith drunkenness, and fined 55., or in default 8 hours' imprisonment. The District Court Avas opened by the Clerk yesterday, and adjourned till the 23rd inst., at 10 a.m. Mr Linn, the Avell-known musician, purposes forming a string and brass band at Hokitika. Mr C. S.
