FIRE BRIGADE CONFERENCE.
Nelsou, January 16. The annual conference of delegates from the fire brigades forming the United Association was held here to-day, Captain Lightfoot, Nelson (president). After some discussion, it was resolved to adhere to the annual instead of triennial meetings. It was stated that there are 1200 firemen in the colony. The election of officers resulted as follows : — President, Captsin Amos (Timaru) ; vice-presidents, Captain Cummings (Wanganui) and Capt. Hughes (Auckland). Mr Robinson (Dunedin) was re-elected secretary. It was resolved to hold the next conference in Christcliurch, and have a brigade demonstration there next year. It was also resolved to apply to Government for assistance. The conference then closed with the usual vote of thanks.
