HOKITIKA V. GREYMOUTH BRIGADES' COMPETITION.

Hokitika, May 24. The competition betAveen the Hokitika and Grey Fire Brigades took place at 4.30. p.m. to-day, and resulted in Hokitika Avinning by a total of 9sec. [united press association.] The competition between the Hokitika and Grey Fire Brigades resulted in a victory to the former. The competition comprised setting up engine, running out 300 feet of hoso, erecting ladders, and crett.ingr «-:iter on the top of a parapet ; the best two trials out of three to win.
