THE WAIRAU GOLDFIELD.
Blenheim, March 20. Mr Allen, the Warden, returned from his visit to the new goldfield, Upper Wairau, today. He seems to think favorably of it, and that it has not yet been sufficiently tested. He is of opinion that, Timms' Valley and the other creeks in the vicinity would prove payable if properly tested. All the creeks are held on depasturing lease, and so far no arrangements have been made for prospecting. The wet weather prevailing; has for a time suspended all operations.
