Mr March, Immigration Officer, has received intimation from the engineer of the Waipara Railway Extension works that he will be able to put on 50 more e.nployed men towards the end of next week, but this is the only batch he will be able to empby on that section. So far the hatching of tiout eggs in the Acclimatisation Society's fish-houses is progressing satisfactorily, and the percentage of bad eggs is very small. Should present anticipations be realised, the society will have, a lar^e n amber of young fish this season for sale and distribution. Hares are making great havoc just now amona; the young trees and shrubs lately planted out in the domain gardens. A house and half an acre of land at the corner of Montreal street was sold to-day in Mem's estate, and knocked down to the Hon. George Buckley for L 2500. Timaku, August 3.
