WELLINGTON NEWS.
Wellington, J une 19. At a meeting of Wesleyans last night, nearly L9OO was promised towards rebuilding the church. The Hutt writ will be issued to-morrow. Maritana will be performed by amateurs for the benefit of the sufferers by the fire. An inquest was held on the Opera House fire to-day, but nothing was adduced to show its origin. An open verdict was returned. Several pilferers at the late fire received sentences of 14 days to-day. The Kinross perjnry case wa3 still further adjourned. Mr Reea stated he had not, received any reply to his letter to the Speaker of the Council asking him to allow the olerk to give evidenoe.
