[to the editor.] Sir,— ln reply to the letter signed by four fishermen, the words I made use of were, "salmon trout," and not salmon, as reported in your paper. Bat, Mr Editor, I will ask those four fishermen if they have never caught the salmon trout in their nets, when we hear from their own lip 3 that salmon trout have been caught 4lb weight, and that they are very good eating, &c, &o. Now, what better proof can we have that imported fish are being destroyed by the present nets that are used in the river and lagoon ? If the salmon and salmon trout are to hav%a chance to increase,, it will not be by usib^S* nets in the very place where the fish are to be seen every day— on the shingle reaches in Sawyer's Creek.
