MINING.
REEFTON". We collate the following items from the Herald, of Thursday : — The Welcome, after putting through a little over 600 tons of quartz, cleaned up, and retorted the amalgam yesterday. The average yield per ton is about 28<iwts. , The Hopeful also had a general cleaning yesterday. Since the last retorting there have been 215 tons reduced ; the amount of gold obtained from same is 332 oz to lOdwts. The Fiery Cross mine manager has sent down stone previous to starting, which will be commenced some time during to-day. The Just-in-Time winze still continues to show a good body of stone, and from the workings at times there is some very rich gold-bearing stone obtained. There will not be many weeks elapse be« fore the manager of tha Welcome is prepared to start another large crushing, and it is, I believe, the intention of the company to put through a couple of thousand tons of atone before the end of the year.
