' The Victoria and Independent Companies stock were both in considerable demand <~duribg the week, and will doubtless com- • mand an advance upon present prices during the ensuing week. Transactions in Union's '■■were 1 also effected at a slight advance upon recent rates. The Venus Company cleaned up a crushing of 800 tons on Saturday last, "with a yield of 12dwt per ton. The next crushing, however, will give a better return; L'aSTiTsrge quantity of mv lock was unavoidably pat through the mill on this occasion, which will not in future. The Wallalha Company purposes getting out a crushing of atone as soon as possible, and as the character of the quartz left by the Just-in-Time on their boundary is exceptionally rich, a Btir may be looked for in those stocks.
