The proposal of Mr La Fontaine, of Ross, to erect wire bridges over the principal rivers and streams between Eoss and Jackson's Bay, on consideration of his being allowed to select certain lands in exchange therefor, meets, we learn from the West Coast Times* with the approval of the Hon. J. Micandrew, the present Minister of Public, ; Works, who has notified his intention to bring in a Bill to enable the lands to ha given.
A man well known in the district as "Christy," dropped down dead at Black's Point, on Saturday last. Ho appeared, says the Inangab.ua Times, to be in perfect health up to a few minutes before his death. He was a hard drinker, and it is to be feared that the unfortunate man's death ia to be attributed to the result of intemperance,
