STOPPAGE OF PUBLIO WORKS.
Wellington, May 20. The Government. have notified by circular to all tenderers for public works that iv consequence of the threatening attitude of European affairs they are not prepared to assume larger liabilities than are absolutely necessary, and postpone accepting any more tenders for public works until more satisfactory intelligence is received from London in relation to financial matteis, and the possibility of .floating a new loan. It is said that Ll 50,000 worth of worka will be stopped.
