LOSS OF A VESSEL.
Ddnedin, May 20. Mr G. W. Elliott has received the following telegram : — The barque Annie Gambles, from Nelson via Bluff, is a total ; wreck at Te Wais Point (east of Bluff). The crew are reported safe. The forward part of the ship is out of water. A survey : has been held, and it is recommended that: ! the vessel be Bold. Mr Elliott left for the Bluff, with Captain Russell, representative of, the Insurance Companies. The. cargo is valuable, and is said to he wellinsured. There is one policy in the Victorian oflice for LBOO. Bluff, M«y 1.7. The Ann Gambles, barque, from London, chartered by the New Zealand Shipping Co, attempted to enter the harbor last night, and was driven ashore on Te Wais Point. She is a total wreck. No signals were made for the pilot. The pilot boarded as soon as she was seen, but she was then hard and fast.
