COMMERCIAL.
The market was, as is usual at this time of the year, very dull, resulting in a very considerable fall in all stocks. The several mining companies enumerated have, with few exceptions, excellent' shows of stone, which in time must insure the attention of buyera. The Keep-it-Dark stocks have -""faillen iii consequence of the low level shaft being swamped out, which -will have the effect of reducing the amount of dividends by one-half the sum hitherto declared, until • ; the lower tunnel can be connected with tbe shaft, whan the usual monthly shilling per share may be locked for. Hopefuls and Welcomes are firm at quotations. Just-in-Times are exception ally <- cheap, taking into consideration the present show of stone. The Victorias are also cheap, and must advance upon present prices, The mipes throughout the district are bealthy. but languishing for Want of capital to develope them.
