It is considered certain that Sir George Grey will accept the requisition inviting him to come forward for the representation of Auckland City West in the room of Mr T. B. Gillies, resigned. A man gamed William Doreen, alias Harris, lately trading as a storekeeper and publican at Westport, was apprehended on telegram from Havslock, on a charge of obtaining goods under false pretences, and was remanded for three days. A sum of LSOO was found in his possession.
