PAROA DISTRICT.

[FROM OUR . OWN CORRESPONDENT.] April 22. There is at present nothing definitely known about Scotch Jock's, and not likely to be for the next fortnight. There are three parties prospecting, and whilst some think the gold will run into the terrace others believe it will only follow the course of the creek, and consequently will not be of much moment. Of course it is very hazardous to give an opinion in a district so proverbial for little patches, and whether this will prove an exception can alone be decided by time. The tniuers round are fully alive to the importance ,of the case, and are waiting to have it thoroughly proved before they take any action. If the gold is found only to be on a shelf alongside the creek it will not make any stir, but should it be found to run into the terrace it will be exactly the reverse. Time and labor must decide this point before anything can be positively said respecting it. What partiou* larly gives such an interest to Scotch Jock's arises from the fact that the compass line from the old Eightmile lead passes here, so that it may be said to be on a golden line. There is no doubt, however uniniportant the present discovery may ultimately prove, that it will lead to a more "thorough systematic prospecting of this particular part. The creek, itself, has been worked in places, and has some very heavy wash in it— some of the pieces of granite may be said to be immovable. How that enterprising prospector, Scotch Jock, managed to make his way there, only shows the indomitable pluck our former prospectors were indued with, for even at the present time, without swag or anything to incommode oneself, it is really a heavy task to go from Marsden to Scotch Jock's and back the same day, although the distance cannot be more than four miles. Of course, some portion of this is through dense bush, with only a twig twisted here and there to show the way, and what makes it more irksome, is the tips and downs that are to be met with from Cariboo Terrace. Even the spur up to that place is a terror to go up, although there is a metalled track to it, and to come down it is nearly as bad, so very steep is it. There is a line which terminates not far from the place where the present prospecting is going on, whichmust be the A line. This will enable parties to trace the : spot on the map, and form an idea of the probability of something. being found that would be -beneficial to the Province and the district in -particular.
