WANTED A RECREATION GROUND.
[to the editor.] Sir — The want of a proper ground near the town for recraation purposes has long been felt by the rising generation here, who have had. to content themselves with the Court House paddock, which is now almost entirely spoilt by the last flood. Now, sir, there is a reserve for recreative purposes, comprising five and a-half acres, situated between Marlborough and Raleigh streets, and facing High street. I think that at the present time steps Bhould be taken to clear and fence these sections, and I trust that the matter now brought forward will be taken up by some of our leading citizens, a public meeting held, a committee formed, the necessary funds raised, and the clearing commenced forthwith, so that the ground might be available for the next Christmas Sports. I am, &c, Pro Bono Puplico. Greymouth, April 22, 1874.
