In the Provincial Council on Saturday, the Province Administrative Bill and the Appropriation Bill were read a third time. A resolution was carried, on the motion of Mr Houlahan, that the new Licensing Act was entirely unsuited to the Province of Westland, and requesting the Superintendent to forward a copy of the resolution to the Colonial Secretary. Reports from the Public Works Committee were adopted, recommending the widening the track between the Blue Spur and the Christchurch Road ; the survey of auriferous spurs ; the construction of a dray road from Stafford Town to Lamplough, via Fourth Terrace ; the construction of 'reservoirs in the Paroa district to command the auriferous terraces of Maori Gully, German Gully and Eight-Mile ; and tfee repair of the Hokitika and Browning Pass track. It was agreed, on the motion of Mr Mitchell, that the Superintendent be requested to call for tenders for the remaining portion of the.Kanieri Lake track.
