Christchurch, March 6. Owing to a rise of 10s per ton freight from Lyttelton to England, wheat has receded to 4s 6d, oats 3s 6d to 3s 9d, the latter very superior. Barley is in keen competition for millers and merchants ; 4s 6d to 4s 9d is readily given for prime. Owing to the price of wheat, millers have raised flour 103 per ton. Quotations are Ll2 10s to LI 3, f.o.b ; bran, L 5 ; sharps, L 6 ; grass seed, dull, 4s ; butter, in demand, ]s ; cheese, 5d to s|d, dull ; good supply bacon and hams, 9|d, f.o.b. Wellington, March 6. The s.s Lady Bird arrived at 6.30. The Mongol leaves in about two hours for south. Bluff, March 6. The May Queen has completed her loading and will sail for London on Tuesday. Her cargo consists of 1600 cases meats, 3383 bales of dumped and 250 of undumped wool. Dunedin, March 6. The polling for the return of ono member for the Provincial Council, vice Bathgate, resulted — Reeves, 588 ; E. B. Cargill, 428 ; Isaacs, 56 ; Chapmon, 50.
