JUDAISM AND CHRISTIANITY.

The Pall Mall Gazette quietly observes: — " While the various Christian denomitions are engaged in quarrelling and fighting with each other, it is to be feared that some ashite old Christians,, weary of all this, will embrace Judaism for the sake of peace. Such a case, according to a Hamburg pap§r, lately occurred at Munich. Ariph Catholic lady \y ho died there the other day left a will on wtiiph was endorsed the following direction ;-rr ' This, my last will and testament, is not to be opened except in the presence of the chief judge, the head of the Roman Catholic faith, and the head of the Jewish congregation.' On the will being opened by these gentlemen, it was found that the property was left to the Jews, her reason for the bequest being stated as follows : — 'During the whole course of my life I have given my beat attention to investigate the various creeds, and I have seen that the Jewish religion is the purest ofall; among all nationalities I have never noticed any possessing such good and upright feelings as the Jews. I therefore bequeath pO,.QPQ thaler's to jbhe heads of the Jewish porigregatipn^ to be distributed to such of their charities as they pjfease.' The will terminated with these words :— * Any person who may presume to disobey my injunctions; arid depart from the exact term 3 -of my will, that part more especially connected with the good of the Jews, may the curses inscribed in the Book of the Law rest upon him.' It must be admitted that if to ' dwell in' unity' io the distinguishing mark of Christian brotherhood, the Jews are more like Christians than manyi professors,^ of Christianity."
