[Anglo-australian press telegraph AGENCY.] MELBOURNE RACES. Bluff, Jan. 12. Melbourne, Jan. 3. Governor Bowen proceeds to Tasmania to-day on a ten days' visit. ' Owing to the abolition of ad valorem duties in New South Wales, notice of the abrogation of Border Treaty at the end of the present month has been given by Victoria. The weather has been intensely hot, averaging over 90deg. in Melbourne, and as high as 112 in the shade. At the Border townships rain is very much wanted, and fruit and vegetables are getting scarce. The City of Melbourne steamer is likely to be chartered to take the next California mail mail, so as to give the Mikado time for an overhaul. The Mikado, when spoken, had averaged ten knots. All the bodies have been recovered from the Geelong boat accident.
