THE INANGAHUA REEFS.

[herald, aug. 23.] : Messrs D. Isaacs and Co. sold on Mpnday 260 scrip in Anderson's, (the 'price realised being 3s 9d. The Invincible Company cleaned ;up yesterday with the eminently satisfactory result of 180 ounces of retorted gold frjom 136 tons of stone. The stone was crushed at Anderson's battery and the figures, j therefore, may be accepted as thoroughly reliable in respect to the quantity of stone put through. A meeting of the shareholders of the Beef ton and Black's Point Tram way Company will be held at Dawson's Hotel! on I the Ist proximo. All the debts of the I company have been discharged, and after realising the entire property a small sum I will be available for distribution among the holders of paid-up scrip. The very satisfactory results obtained in the Hopeful Company's ground !at Boatman's has led to a meeting being called for the purpose of considering the desirability of forthwith making arrangements for working the mine. ; Up to Saturday last, the contractors driving to the westward of the shaft in the North British had completed 38ft of their contract for 50ft. It is contemplated that the remaining 12ft will occupy a fortnight. One of the shareholders working in the claim computes the distance yet to be driven before striking the reef at 22ft. i ' The last instalment of a sum nearly reaching L5OOO, the cost of machinery and erecting same, was paid to Messrs Finlay, Howarth, and Co. by the Anderson's I Creek Gold Mining Company on the 15 th inst. "With the exception of a small overdraft at the Bank the company is now free from all liability, and the shareholders have every prospect of receiving I in future 1 regular dividends. i An extraordinary meeting of shareholders of the Jusfc-in-Time Gold Mining] Company, Registered, was 'held at Reefton on Saturday last. There were twentyeight shareholders present, either jin person 6r by proxy representing 17,250 shares of the 24,000 shares into which the Company is divided. A resolution was : carried authorising the directors to mort- j gage the Company's claim and plant to I the contractors for the machinery, and certain rules were revised. . A meeting of persons interested in the construction of a road from Black's Point to the head of Murray Creek, withj a yiewpf facilitating the transport of quartz .and consequent working of the claims on Kelly's and other reefs, will be heldat the stores of Ramsay.. Edwards and Co., Black's Point, this evening. The intention is to float a company, if possible, for the erection of a powerful crushing plant at Black's Point, and a road, if constructed, connecting the workings with Black's Point would act as a great inducement to capitalists to invest in the -undertaking. The result of theipplication for windingup the Caledonian Gold-mining Company, at Larry's formed an exciting topic 1 of discussion among the miners visiting .Beef ion- on Saturday last— as it was felt that not a single company in the district was exempt under Judge Harvey's recent ruling. To the shareholders in the Fiery Cross claim, at Boatman's, the decision presents so insurmountable an obstacle to theit- previous intention to register under the' Act that they have, we believe, abandoned the idea of doing so, until, at any rate 1 , legal opinion has been taken as to whether or not they can, protect themselves from! the effects of a win ding-up order granted under such conditions as those. in the case of the Caledonian.
