The summary of European news received by the Suez mail is exceptionally brief, but, in relation to most subjects which have lately agitated the public mind, may be said to be satisfactory. The Prince of Wales is out of danger, and steadily recovering his strength. The Queen is again sufficiently able and free to take part in public duties that she is expected to open Parliament personally. Republican and Home Rule agitators am enjoying the fulness of the liberty of British subjects in tho use of pen or platform, and do not appear to have been outrageously rampant except in the instance of one meeting ol supporters of the Constitution whose deliberations they rather rudely interrupted by a show of physical force. Readers of the evidence in the Tichborne case who may have been favorably impressed with the justice of. the claimant's cause will be surprised by the confident statements made by the counsel for the defence, and will renew their reading of tho evidence with an interest which they have not hitherto % felt. The trader and the wool-grower have the satisfaction of learning that, while money is abundant and the rate of discount undisturbed, the staple product of the Colonies maintains the high rate of value to which it lately rose. Beyond those particulars, the news is principally personal— e.g., Dr Jeuner is created a Knight Commander of the Bath, and Dr Watson.is sentenced to be hanged — or of slight political significance, as it usually is when Parliament is out of Bession and peace prevails in Europe.
