Tub GREY Fviver Argus Office, Friday evening. The amount of revenue received at the Juataiqa on goods cleared for home consumy, tion on Thursday and Friday was aj follows :— Thursday, Nov. 8, £24 12s 9d ; Friday, Nov. 9, £19 17s 3d. Okaiuta. — The Vfc^land Observer, of §iturday last, reports as follows : — The arrival of the schooner Pho?nix, from Dndedin, will fully supply the market with several articles not over plentiful during the last fortnight. The Bruce also brought down a good general cargo during the week. Demand continues limited, as purchases are only made for immediate requirements. The Bruce is understood to take down 15 tons of goods from Hokitika to Bruce Bay on her next trip southwards, and it is most likely a few additional tons will be sent from this port. We learn of small quantities af goods having been taken to Bruce Bay on packhorses during the past few days, in addition to a few tons taken awiiy by. boat. * The ketch "Volunteer has been loading up with flour, provisions, &c, and is understood to eail for Pakihi on the first favorable opportunity. Prices for the time are reported to bo high on that new field — Adelaide flour, L4s per ton ; butter 3s 6d per Ib. 'The consumption of flour in this district has been, as a matter of course, with a decreasing population, falling off considerably. Prices remain -unaltered; but, with the probabiiity < f little coming forward from the larger ports, we may expect to see no further fall in price. Adelaide (Duffield's) has heen sold in town during the week at L 26 per ton ; prime Wellington and Woolongong butter is quotable now at 2s 3d to 2s 4d per lb ; hams and bacon, Is Sd to Is 9d. Sinclair's hams of this year's cure arc not equal to some of the other brands, having been cured green,' and they are being sold in • Hokitika without iOMaxantetfo as^.to.soundness. Oats and chaff

f remain at the same prices ; potatoes, 14s to los per cwt. ;"o'nion§" are. not to be had at . fl'iy price. Is 3d is obtainable for them of iidiflerent quality in Hokitika, hence there hive been none imported for several weeks. We have had a bettor supply of other vegc- : tables during thq past week than we have i seen for- montjhs. Cabbages (retailing at 2s j 6d), carrots, turnips, &c, have been in abundance. The fruit trade, only recently attended to in town, is, we notice, now kept up with regular small supplies. CilßlSTcnußCH.— The Press, of the sth inst., reports as follows : — A fair amount of business has been transacted during 'the course of the past week, especially in stations stores, which- are being lessened in stock considerably. The wool is Tjaginning to come to hand, but mostly/from the districts around Christchur-ch, and 7 the staple and general quality is fully-equal tj-> former seasons. Large quantities' of fencing materials have changed hands lately. No change has taken place in-^the price of imr port articles. Sugars-arc rather duller of sale. Tallow cannot' be quoted higher than L 33 per ton for.rmixed. In bread stuffs, flour is without alteration, and offal is firm at late prices/being more dispqsed of in retail quantities. Several small sliipnients of flour, o;its, and potatoes, have been sent to the West Coast inar-kets ; hvf, the prices obtained barely cover incidental expenses. Very little farm produce was quitted on Saturday 5 a small quantity of wheat changed hands at 4s 3d, and oats at 5s per bushel: One lot of barley was offered at-. (is Od with» out finding a buyer. Very few cattle were yarded, but all were of fair quality, and brought from LlO for heifers in" calf, .to LH 10s for milch cows. Horses are still difficult to quit, except for really first-class animals. The bills due on Saturday last were well mpt generally, but assistance was needed in some cases.
