TO-DAY’S ELECTIONS.
[PHB PKBBB ASSOCIATION.! WELLINGTON, December 9. The following additional returns for Takapau, Hatings, Pctane, Tarawera, Tapuaeharau, Mohaka, Wairoa, Whataki, Gisborne, Whakato, Ormond, Whangara, Maketu, Chinemutu, polling places for the eastern Maori district show—Tomoana, 562; Rogers, 384 ; Wipere, 450 ; Parenlini Ngata, 143. OAMABU, December 9. There is not much excitement over the elections, though both sides are working vigorously. For Oamaru, the contest will be close, but Mr Shrimaki will be re-elected for Waitaki. Mr Duncan, it is believed, will beat Mr Reid, and Mr MoKanz'e will have an easy victory for Moeraki. DUNEDIN, December 9.
The elections in the city and suburbs are causing the keenest excitement. There will bo a great struggle for Dunedin Bast and West. It is generally thought Mr Dick will bo most closely run, whilst the publicans openly boast he will be beaten. Foe tho Peninsula Soaton seems certain of return, with Donnelly a clone second. Fish is a certainty for South and Cargill for Central, with Bracken next. Bathgate has the beat chance for Roslyn.
