Sir Samuel Wilson, of Victoria, the defeated candidate for Londonderry, threatens to petition against the election of Mr Porter, Q.C., the newly-appointed Solicitor-General for Ireland, on the ground that ho used indirect means of bribery to gain the seat. Volunteers for IrelandThe Government has invited 1000 men of the army reserve or retired policemen to volunteer for special protection duty in Ireland as Irish police. Killed by Lightning. A severe storm, accompanied with heavy thunder and lightning, was experienced here yesterday, during which two persons were struck by lightning, and killed instantaneously.
