J.P.'e. ] Dbtjnkbshebs.— John Jones, a colored man, for this offence, was ordered to pay Is 6d cab hire, cautioned, and discharged. George Craw was fined 10a, and cab hire Is. Labceny.—William Nuttall was chargod with stealing sundry tinsmith's tools from bis master, Joseph Piper. Mr Izard appeared for the accused. Joseph Piper deposed that prioonor had been in his employment for nearly two years up to April last. For some time small articles and tools had disappeared,

and finally witness saw some of them, which wero produced in Court, in a dealer's shop, and so traced them to prisoner. Other articles were found at prisoner's residence, and those, together with the tools got from the dealer, were worth 83. Wm. Stanley Willis, foreman to last witness, recognised most of ths articlos nroduced as belonging to Mr Piper. John Harris gave similar evidence. Edward Bromley stated that he had bought a lot of furniture, &3., from prisoner, and the things produced were among them. Deteotive O'Connor deposed to arresting prisoner, who said he had got the tools, &0., from Belfast meat factory, where he had been working, and he wished to " square" it. John Nuttall, a brother of the prisoner, and called for the defenee, stated that about two years ago he and his brother bought some tools from a man who had been working at .Belfast factory, and amongst them were some of those in Court now claimed by Mr Piper. Others of them were obtained otherwise, and had been in the use of himself and brother for years. Wm. Nuttall; sen., father of accused, spoke to one of the articles claimed by Mr Piper being his property. The Bench commented on the contradictory nature of the evidence, and dismissed the cose. Assault.—Henry Peterson was brought up charged with assaulting Matthew Anderson on the South Town, belt about midnight of Sunday. Prisoner attacked prosecutor with a billhook, and with it cut through a hard hat that the latter was wearing. The police applied for a remand until Tuesday, which was granted. Poachimo. Thomas Wilson and Emmanuel Langwall ploaded guilty to trespassing with dog and gun in the pursuit of game on the property of E. Amyes on June 30th last. They were fined eaoh £2 10», and ordered to pay expenses, £2 18s, between them. Miscellaneous. —John Brooks, for leaving his vehicle unattended, was fined 10s. A similar charge against William Illingworth was dismissed. Bobert Faloon and William Woodward were each fined 5s for allowing oattle to wander. Jabez Griffiths, for keeping an unregistered dog, was fined 10s. The oase of E. Barrett, for assaulting Jos. Garland, was struck out, as plaintiff did not appear. A case against Earl Magon for using abusive language to Ludwig Schroder was dismissed, as being too trivial to deal with.
