The schooner Spray put into this port oh Saturday for repairs under the following circumstances She left Pateaon May 30th for Wellington, and encountered, soon after leaving, some of the late heavy S.E. weather. On the 3rd instant she sheltered off the Boulder Bank, and on the sth sheltered in Grevillo harbor. Left on the 7th, and worked through the passage inside Stephen’s Island. On the 10th anchored in Ship Cove, and left next day for Wellington, intending to beat up there. The wind gave out, and an unsuccessful attempt was made to get back to Ship Cove. Heavy Easterly squalls were next met with, before which the vessel ran through the Kaka North Channel and anchored in Catherine’s Cove, Admiralty Bay. On the 13th anchored again on Guard’s Bank, in a S.E. gale, leaving there the following day. Was off Wellington Heads last Wednesday, with a heavy S.E. sea and light N.E. wind. The Northerly wind freshened, and advantage was taken of it to make this port. Captain Buxton states that from leaving Patea on May 30th to the Bth inet., the pumps were worked every two hours, and since then the vessel leaked so badly that they had to bo used every hour. The ballast also came up through them, and the schooner was by this means so lightened that she would not beat to windward. One of the rudder gudgeons broke, and the rudder had to be secured with an iron band and chains. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS, Bl uff, Juno 20.
