A lad nearly lost bis life this morning trying to drive a cart through the Maitai Eiver, while coming into town. The body was found to-day. The Exhibition, There were three thousand visitors at the Industrial Exhibition yesterday, and over £l2O were taken in single admission tickets. People had to be refused admission after eight o’clock. The Tararua Fund The Mayor has received £9 17s 6d, collected by the Wellington “Evening Post,” in aid of the Tararua fund. Mining. The Tipperary Company, Macetown, have sent down a cake of 381 oz, of gold.
