MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the i. hief Po3t Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: FRIDAY, JANUARY 16. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi and Southampton (for specially addressed correspondence only), Continent of Europe, India, Africa, Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, Ac., per express train, to connect with s s. Ringarooma at the Bluff, at 6 a.m. Books and newspapers, at 7 a.m. Registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 15th. Money orders, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 15tU. Late fee letters for these mails may be posted in the travelling post-office attached to the express train on Friday, 16th inst. SATURDAY, JANUARY 17. For Chatham Islands, per Omaha, at 7.30 a.m.; guard's van, 9 a.m. train. The next mail for the United Kingdom via San Francisco will close at Christchurch on January 81st, and will be due in London on March 16th. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
