Lyttelton Harbor Board.—The annual meeting of the above will be held on Monday next, when the statement of accounts, <fcc, will be resented.

Oahtebbubt Ykomanbt Oavajcsy.—lt is understood that Lieut. Slater, who has for many years been connected with the Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry, and has been an indefatigable officer, has resigned. The cause of this step is stated to be the inability to get an answer to a letter addressed to the Defence Office, asking for the appointment of a drill instructor, written as far back as October last. The effect of this will nrobably be that the corps will not be represented at th Review. Hospital Patients.—During the paßt fortnight there were admitted to the Hospital twenty patients, sixteen were discharged, and seventy-four patients remain in the institution. During the same period three deaths occurred. Chabitable Aid Boabd.—The ordinary meeting of the Charitable Aid Board wbb held yesterday. The business being of an ordinary character was Boon disposed of. It was resolved to advise the Government to appoint the Mayor of Sydenham to a seat on the Board. Beoibtbation of Dogs.—lt has come to the knowledge of the city authorities that the practice prevails of the dog regis! rare outside the city boundaries registering dogs belonging to persons residing in the city. This has the effect of depriving the city of the fees, and it is also very questionable whether the owners cannot be made to pay the fees to the city registrar, they being unable to produce receipts signed by the officer appointed for the district wherein they reside. The matter will be brought before the City Council on Monday. Tbmplaby.—A free publio entertainment was given in connection with St. Andrew's Lodge on Tuesday evening in St. Andrew's schoolroom. There was a good attendance, considering the inclemency of the weather. Bro. Clephane, P.D.D.W.0.T., presided. A very good miscellaneous entertainment of the usual character was given, and at the conclusion a hearty vote of thanks was carried to thote who provided it. It is intended by the St. Andrew's Lodge to have a monthly meeting of the same kind. Valuation List.—lt is announced that the valuation list of the city for the ensuing year is now open for inspection at the City Council offices. Missionary Mebtiinj. —ln connection with the Primitive Methodists a missionary meeting was held in the Cambridge terrace Church last evening, Mr Cockraft, of Timaru, occupying the chair. Unemployed Olbbkb.—For the post of clerk to the Mount Homers Boad Board, at a salary of £250 per annum, including horse allowance, there were no fewer than ninetytwo applicants, out of which number Mr Cookson was the successful candidate. Thb Retibw.—Owing to the fact that those who are interesting themselves in getting tha Review held in Ohristchurch at the time fixed for the autumn meeting of the C.J.C. are unable to get a decisive answer from the licensed victuallers, the work of preparation is at a standstill. The terms asked for are the same as those given by the licensed 1 victuallers of Inveroargill on the occasion of the late review, when they billetted the men at a merely nominal cost, and besides this gave a handsome subscription towards the expenses. In view of the very large, number of people likely to be attracted to Christchuroh by the review and the autumn meeting, it seems a pity that the holding of the review, which is likely to cause a large sum of money to be expended in Ohristchurch, should be impeded in any way. Sydenham Cbicket Club.—A general i meeting will be held at Colombo road school to-morrow, at eight o'clock p.m. Licensed Victuallers' Association. — An adjourned meeting of the above will be held this evening at Morton's Hotel, to consider the correspondence relative to wine and beer licenses, and to appoint a committee for the revision of rules, *c.
