HAREWOOD STEAM THRESHINGCOMPANY.

A general meeting of the shareholders in the Harewood Steam Threshing Comrany took place on Saturday afternoon, e'o the White Hart Hotel. The chair was ti ken by Mr James Doral, the chairman of directors. The first business was to read the minutes of the last annual meeting held in June last, which were confirmed. The meeting then proceeded to consider the question of the appointment of a manager to the company for the ensuing season, and it was proposed and seconded, that Mr Durey should receive the position. The whole of the shareholders present expressed their entire satisfaction with the manner in which he had fulfilled his duties during the previous season, and asked that gentleman to reconsider his refusal. Mr Durey thanked the meeting for the complimentary manner in which it had referred to his past services, but said he must decline to act. It was stated by the chairman that the machine and all its appliances had now been paid for, so that the company would act towards the manager in a more liberal spirit than formerly. They again pressed Mr Durey to accept the appointment, and not to be afraid of making them any offer within reason by which his services could be retained. Mr Durey said that last year ho had himself collected £I3OO for the company. After considerable discussion he consented to act, the salary to be left to the directors. A vote of thanks to the chairman closed the proceedings.
