INIERPEOVIHCIAI. [PER PRESS AGENCY.] Ashbbi uton, April 4. Mr Wason, member for Coleridge, addressed his constituents here last night. He condemned Mr Larnach’s conduct, and blamed Major Atkinson for not resigning on Mr Ballanee’s Native Lands Court resolusions, and for taking part in trying to oust. Sir G. Grey after the lai ter was in power, but said the Major’s motives were pure, and he desired personally to withdraw from office. He thought Sir G. Grey should have had, and should still have, a fair trial. He would oppose Sir G. Grey’s measures with moderation, but not bitterness. He opposed manhood suffrage. He received a vote of thanks. Wellington, April 4. In the Supreme Court, Patrick Shane, for robbing the lodgers in a hotel, was brought up for sentence. Previous convictions at Auckland were proved against him, and he was sentenced to ten years’ penal servitude. Port Chalmers, April 4. The contest for the seat for Port Chalmers, vacated by the Hon. W. H, Reynolds, is likely to be keen. Mr Joyce declines to stand ; Mr if. Dench, ex Mayor, has consent d, and bis supporters are enthusiastic as to his return.
