“PRO.'’ TOURNAMENT. smith wins stableford HANDICAP. GALLOWAY SCORES IN SILVER KING BOGEY. (P ress Association) DANNEVTRKjE. Feh. 25. Nineteen professional golfers from all parts of the Dominion commenced the hnnual tournament on the Dannevirko Golf Club’s links in fine v/arm weather this morning.

To-day’s events comprised the Dunlop Stableford handicap competition and the Silver King bogey handicap. The first and second rounds of the cliia mpi on ship will be played to-morrow and the third and final rounds on Saturday.

Katt (Hawcra). 22; John Watt (Wellington), 24, The New Zealand professional golf tourney this afternoon was devoted to the Silver King hogoy handicap, which was won by I. S. Galloway, 3 up. A. J. Shaw, one up, was second. C. C. Clements and E. J. Moss both finished one down but, on the count back, Clements took third place Mid 'Moss fourth place. Shmv‘s card was the best of the day,-being 7,0. three below par—out 4,4, 3, f), 6,4, 4,4, 3—37; in. 4. 4, 5. 4,2, 4,4, 2, 4—33. Galloway was next best with 72, 33, out and in. Tito greens were playing true, tmt were slightly slower than most- of the visitors wore accustomed. The putting was occas’onplly good. Clements, for instance, holing a3O footer at the 13tb* following with' a 50 footer for a birdies two at the fourteenth.
