A complete agreement was reached in the Conciliation Council to-day in tiic? New Zealand General Insurance Industrial Union of Workers’ dispute, and the Arbitration Court is to be asked to make the agreement into or. award.

The agreement is to apply to all members of indoor clerical staff and inspectors who are in receipt of £450 per annum or less. Industrial superintendents are to be paid not less than £5 a wekei. J.ho commencing salary for males is £29 per annum for the first six months, end for every succeeding six months the-rate is as follows: £36, £4l 4s, £46 Bs, £sl 12s, £SO 16s. The salary in the fourth year is to he £l3O, and in every succeeding year it is to he as follows: £155, £IBO, £2lO, £230, £2-55, £2BO. £2.95, £3lO, £325. Every worker of 21 years or upwards is to receive not less than £3 16s a week.

The commencing salary for females is' £29 per annum, and for every succeeding six months it is to he as follows: £36. £4l 4s, £46 Bs, £sl 12s, £56 16s. The fourth-year salary is £l3O, fifth year £145, and sixth year £l6O. Females 21 years or older are to receive not loss than £1 16s a week. . The commencing salary for tomato clerks' in life office industrial departments is to be £R4 8s per annum, and for every succeeding six months it is to bo as follows: £2B 12s, £33 10s, £39, £44 4s, £49 Bs. The fourth year salary is £lls, fifth year £125, sixth yrtar £135. Workers 21 years or older are to receive not less than £1 16s.

A working week of 37i hours is provided * or, to be worked between Monday and Friday, except that in special eases .an employee may; be required to work 40 hours. Work in excess of 40 hours is to bo paid loi as overtime. Sick leave is provided for, as well as annual holidays, and the preference clause is included.
