STORTFORD LODGE MARKET HASTINGS, Feb. 10. A falling away in both yardings and quality was experienced in the fat cattle section at Stortford Lodge today, being a surprise after last week's quality offering at a high level of values. Ox beef was negligible, cows of medium to inferior sorts predominating. Better quality lines made the only bright patch in a lifeless sale. Late rates were maintained due to tho short supply. A total of 24,500 store sheep was yarded, one half being lambs and the other consisting of breeding owes and fat and forward wethers. Top lines of lambs equalled last week’s values, but tho large percentage of second quality lines were easier. Many of the ihrcoding ewes were aged and poorly mouthed, tho best equalling last week’s ewa fair values, but poorer sorts were easier. Several good station bred lines of forward wethers were offered selling to 26s Id making better selling than tho first pens. Tn a modcrato yarding of vat slice]! ewes predominated, there being no change from last week. Medium sorts constituted the larger portion of the offering. Extra prime lambs met with bright selling, realising to 33s Cd.
