GENERAL SITUATION (Press Association . WELLINGTON, Feb. 12.. A. number off deep active secondary depressions were crossing ' the South Island to-day. Conditions were disturbed also in the tropics to' the north. An intense anti-cyclone is still centred over Tasmania. Winds: North-west to south-west, Inter becoming more generally southerly; moderate to strong generally, and fin places, of gale force. Seas: Rough north of Farewell Spit." and in tlio Cook and Foveaux Strait areas; considerable swell on the West, coast of the South Island ; elsewhere moderate, later rising south of East Gape. Eastern Tasman: Strong southwesterly winds to gales, rough seas.
