FUDGE CAKE I-'or the cake: Cream together half a cap of butter and -one of mi gar, then add two yolks of eggs well beaten. and the wliitesbeaten till stiff, gift two teaspoons of baking powder with 1-V cups of *ioiir, st'r in lightly with half a. cup of milk ; add 2oz. chocolate powder, and pour mixture into two deep sandwich tins. Bake in a moderate oven. W hen cold, spread the ‘fudge filling between layers and cu to]i. To make t-ro filling, put into a. saucepan one cup of milk, two tablespoons butter and one cup of sugar. Stir until sugar is quite* melted, then add 2oz. of chocolate powder and a pinch of cream of tartar. Bring to boiling point, and let boil until mixture will form ,a very soft' ball when tried in cold water. Cool slightly add a few drops of 'vanilla, and beat until right consistency to spread.
