A party of 2-5 howlers from the Tokomaru Bay Club, headed by the vice-president. Mr. If. 8. Short, visited the Ruatorin. Club’s new green on the .occasion of the official opening, the visitors winning five out < I tho six inter-club marches. At the conclusion of the day Air. Birch, president- of the Runtoria Club, said that though the green had siill t.o receive attention it had been decided .to open it- this season. Ho thanked the visitors for their assistance in making the day such an enjoyable one and also thanked the ladies for their co-operation in providing afternoon-tea.

Speaking on behalf of the visitors, Air. Short said ho hoped to see Ruatoria with an entry for the Carver Clip next year, and that they would welcome Ruatoria members on their green at all times. Following arc details of the day’s play,’ Tokomau Bay being mentioned first in each case

The summary of the section play to date in the Poverty Bay Bowling Club’s ’singles championship competition is announced as follows: Section A.—G. Bennelt ran out .the winner. GTS HORNE TRAILS ELIMINATED

Tho Gisborne rink skipped by F. Williams failed on. Thursday to obtain the two- wins to place them in the post-sec Jon play at the Rotorua open tournament and were eliminated. Williams’ team won five matches while the second Gisborne team skipped by M. W. Craig had four wins.
