REQUEST FOR REVISION PET ONE COUNCIL’S ATTITUDE The hospital levy has always caused a. considerable amount of discussion at the Borough Council, and this subject cropped up again last- evening from an entirely different direction, a protest being) made by the ketone Boron,Ht Council, tho town clerk, of which wrote as follows: “In view of the ever increasing burden that is being placed upon boroughs and counties in. this country through Hospital Board levies there is a growing opinion that the time has come when the incidence of the maintenance of hospital and charitable 'aid boards should bo altered. “This matter was considered by my council at its last- meeting when concern was expressed at the extraon! nnry increase in this year’s hospital levy, and the certainty of further large increases, in the future, The following, resolution was passed: “That the incidence oa tjie costs of hospital board administration should be reviewed as an urgent matter, in the direction of relieving rate, payers from part or the whole of the burden arising from such costs, and llial the municipal association be urged to make representations on the above subject to the Government.”

The clerk of the Opotiki County Counc'l ivrotc on the same matter and requested the council’s sympathetic support.—lt was decided to support the resolution.
