RECENT THEATRE
THE BRIDE COMES HOAIE.
A thol'oughly amusmg plot skilfully presented, is said to he Use feature of. “Tlie Bride Comes Home.” which will open a season at the Rege.u Theatre to-day. The leading players are Claudette Colbert and Fred AiaeMurray, who met with such a wide favour as a light comedy team m “The Gilded 'Lily,” and this "rime they arc reported to be move entertaining than ever. In a time when it is difficult to. get away from the patterned story, it is very refreshing to find this story of a modern boy and girl who cannot spend five minutes together without fighting and yet who find i hey cannot stay away from each other. ClnudeUe Colbert is cast as--the daughter of a wealthy financier who meets whh ah unlnrtunate ftnanei.il wash, with the result that she is iorceti to take up a position .as assistant editor of a magazine owned by Robert. Young and edited by l-’rod Ai aoAfurrny. a rather rough-spokm fellow who resents hero presence in the office. They disagree on ail points, from spinach to tooth brushes, lmt manage in tho end to work out their problems in a most entertaining way. The pleasing factor of the picture is said to he tho way in which it departs from the usual adventures of newlymarried couples of the screen, garnished with all manner of improbable situations, to present two ordinary human beings in a work-a-day world. This typo of flm is !>coining popular every day, as is shown by the recent successes of “The Gilded Lily" and ‘She Married Her Boss.” The picture-going public likes to .see films that reflect the life that is going on around them, and the old fantastic Bights of the past no longer carry the popular appeal they once enjoy .’d.
