An intense anti-cyclone is; now approaching across the North Tasman ea, hut pressure is low east of New Zealand; and a. westerly depression extends from southern Australia, on to the- sofith-weste Tasman. Winds: 'Moderate to strong southwesterly to southerly, reaching gale force on parts of the East Coast, hut decreasing, later veering to freshening westerlies or north-wester]ios about and south of Cook Strait. Sens :' Rough and with a. heavy southerly, swell' south of' East Capo; rather rough to rough, but decreasing north, of Farewell Spit; elsewhere mo derate. Eastern Tasman Sea ;. Moderate south-westerlies and moderate sens : hut winds’ veering to fresh north-west crlies and Seas later rising in th'3 south earn portiog. . Weather: For tho most jjart fair to fmo.but some isolated showers; at first on the East Coast, and in the fair north; later unsettled showery conditions developing in tho western and far southern districts of the South Island.
