HIDE AND SHEEPSKIN SALE

Messrs Murray Roberts and C 0.,, Ltd., Wellington, report under date June 26, as follows: “A medium selection of sheepskins U'as offered to a large bench of buyers at our fortnightly sale held today. Good tkiirs, with sound pelts and free from seed improved in most instances to the extent of id., but this rise was not, noted in the shabby sorts, which cased a shade. Calfskins met with hotter competition, and a slight improvement was made in most 'sorts. Tins improvement was also reflected in the lighter yearlings. Ox hides for the most part were very firm, with light w'cights in sellers’ favour. Entries wero on the small side at to-day’s Addington market and mainly owing to this cause there was a very keen sale in practically all sections of fat stock. Fat sheep: Only 8000-were penned, and there was an advance of from Is Od to 3s, the latter increase for heavy ewes. The best price for wethers was 31s to 30s; good 27s to 30s ; prime medium weights 24s 6d to 20s (id; and light- down to 22s Od. Top juiced ewes made from 25s to 28s and in a few eases to 345; medium to good light down to 19s. Fat cattle.—An average entry of 410 head eamo forward. There was a firm sale at tho host of last week’s rates with a slight increase for heavy steers. Best made, from £l3 to £ls ; good from £ll to £l2 15s ,and ordinary down to £9. Best heifers sold at from £9 to £lO and in special eases more; good £7 10s to £S 15s; ordinary down to £6; best cows sold to £lO 12s Od; good £6 15s to £9; ordinary £5 to £6 10s.
