TEN WICKETS. (TStiP.A. by Elec. Tel ■: Copyright). V > ' LONDON, June 30, The defeat of Derby by. Lancashire, following’ the failure of Kent last week, lias increased interest in the position of the leading teams in -the county cricket competitions. Rain this week seriously interfered with most matches, and the round was notable for the many small scores. Derby and Glamorgan each, made only 61 runs in one innings, Gloucester were all out for 66, and Lancashire and Notts also failed to reach three figures. Worcester scored a lucky win over Glamorgan. They were 81 runs behind on the first, and when they made only 150 in the seond the match looked a certainty for Glamorgan. The Welshmen, however, made 61, and Worcester snatched victory by eight runs. A feature of the match was that Mercer and Caly each took 10 .wickets for Glamorgan. For Worcester, the honours went to Jackson with 12 for 89. E. Davies made a century for Glamorgan. . The only other centuries during tho round were Barnett’s 150 not out for Gloucester in the second innings, and Melville’s 125 and Holmes’ 107 for vSussex. Among many excellent bowling figures wero Booth’s six for 18 for Lancashire against Derby, Bowes’ six for 20 for Yorkshiro against Gloucester, Watts’ seven for 37 and Davies’ seven for 20, both for Kent against Essex.
