A verdict that John: Arthur Meek died of accidental asphyxiation by carbon monox’d© and d owninsf in a hath, was returned at the conclusion of the inquest. 'The deceased was found lying an Ids hath on June.2B. The coroner said it was quit© plain that the accident was caused through a defective pipe in a type of cahpliont not approved by the Wellington Gas Company. There were breaks in the pipe, and the fact that; deceased’s mother had on a previous, occasion been overcome, indicated dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning. Medical evidence was given that deceased had apparently been overcome by the fumes, and. bad fallen into the bath and been drowned. Who pays the bill for the injured ?
