The Hon. H. G. It. Mason. Attor-ney-General and Minister of Justice, accompanied by Mi's. Mason and Mr. B. L. Ballard, Undersecretary of the Justice Department end Controller m Prisons, left Gisborne yesterday for the Coast centres, where the Minister continues his visit of ' inspection ot courthouses and prisons. It is probable the Minister will return to Gisborne to-day and then continue to Auckland via Qpotiki and Tnuranga.

Interesting birthday celebrations were held at “Swavtlnuoore,” Pat.utahi, during the week-end. those concerned being Mr. Richard Sherratt, wlip had reached liis eighty-fifth birth day,’Mr. Randall Sherratt, and also Mr. Cyril White. In the afternoon there was an informal gathering of relatives to mark the occasion. Mr. Pichard Sherratt performed the customary ceremony of cutting the cake, after which the guests drank liis health. Then came the toasts to the htaith of Messrs. Randall Sherratt and Mr. Cyril White.

The now portfolio of broadcasting will be taken over to-day by the Prime Minister.
