The Paris correspondent of The Times says the French stay-in strikes have virtually ended. Insurance cieiks are expected to resumo to-morrow. Tho majority of the department stores are still occupied, but the end is believed to be in sight. Tho position in the provinces is improving with equal rapidity. Paul Van Zeeland, has been conistitiited. to deal with strikes, which ■a|re rapidly extending in Belgium. The coal strike, involving 110,000 workers, has become general. Steel workers have decided' to call a strike. At noon to-day the strikers stopped trams running in Liege.
