SHARP ’QUAKE
FELT ON EAST COAST ON SUNDAY MORNING. MANY PEOPLE WOULD BE AWAKENED. About, 3.5 a m. yesterday a sharp 'quake was experienced in the East Coast districts. It was preceded by a slight tremor, but the second shake was sufficiently pronounced to awaken tho residents. The direction was east to west. It was slightly felt at Napier and probably more pronounced on the Coast and in the Opotiki district.
SLIGHT SHAKE IN CANTERBURY (Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, May 21, A shock of earthquake was felt in Christchurch about 2 o’clock this morning. There are no reports of damage. The shock as felt in Christchurch was not severe.
